Five things lawyers ask first.
Yes. The mandate is signed via eIDAS qualified electronic signature (e.g. itsmeยฎ or eID), giving it the same legal value as a handwritten signature under Regulation (EU) 910/2014 โ recognised in all 27 Member States.
We escalate via formal Article 17 notice. Non-compliance is reported to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (APD/GBA). Refusal carries fines up to 4% of global turnover.
Cross-validation with the Belgian National Register and equivalent civil registries across the EU. A 14-day quiet period prevents fraudulent triggers.
Personal data rights are extra-patrimonial โ they do not transfer to the estate. The deceased's wishes prevail under the Belgian Data Protection Act and GDPR.
Cryptographic shredding. Keys are destroyed across all replicas. The audit log is the only artifact preserved โ for the estate, for seven years.
